Laminate Flooring – You can do it yourself! Part 1

We have a little 100 year old rental house that is perfect for young couples or a small family. After our last tenant moved out I realized that it needed some renovating! There are so many things I want to do to this house – but time and money are my restrictions. Usually we have another tenant ready to move in as one is moving out, so we needed to to a quick yet effective remodel.

The kitchen floor is the update we decided to do. The current floor was those 12×12 self stick vinyl flooring tiles. Now don’t get me wrong, these vinyl floor tiles had served their purpose. They were put in the house almost 30 years ago and have survived many tenants! But now they were looking sad and tired, so it was time for an update! I needed a good quality, discount laminate floor.

The last thing I wanted to do, or had time to do, was remove the old flooring. I wanted something that we could just put over the top. I started checking online for ideas. One of my first visits was to Lumber Liquidators to see what their best deals were on discount laminate flooring. I have purchased flooring from them before and I was very happy with the results – and the price!

I was in luck – they had a good quality laminate floor for only .69 cents per square foot! It was the Dream Home – Utopia 6mm Norway Oak Laminate. I read the consumer reviews online and then headed out to make my purchase. I picked up 200 sq ft of flooring and the underlayment for less than $200! FINAL OPINION Well, for this final opinion I am only going to comment on the price, because we haven’t installed it yet! Of course I am happy with the price – who wouldn’t be. I checked other retailers and they couldn’t touch this price – and all the consumer reviews were great. Lumber Liquidators doesn’t have the same deals all the time, but they always have great deals on something! I highly recommend them for hardwood flooring and laminate flooring. The Dream Home Laminate floors are first class!
