Hot Toys 2009 – Zhu Zhu Pets

So, your kids want a pet – but you don’t want a pet. What to do? Enter the Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters These furry little toys are cute little hamster wannabes that scamper around just like a real rodent!

There are five different Zhu Zhu pets available:

• Patches
• Chunk
• PipSqueak
• Mr. Squiggles
• Num Num

In addition to the pets – of course you need to get accessories! And do these pets have accessories – they have cars, houses, fun wheels, slides, beds, and more! If you plan to get very many of the add-ons you will need a large enough area for set up. You don’t want Mr. Squiggles getting lost under the couch!

The accessories are fairly easy to put together, but several reviewers have said that they are not lock tight. So as children play with them, the pieces come apart. This can be frustrating! Also, the top on the garage doesn’t fit well and will pop off randomly. But, all in all the accessories really fit the toys. It is just as if you have a real hamster and all the toys that go with it!

Each hamster has their own personality and they make fun whimsical sounds. They can be in loving mode, where they squeak and chatter while you pet them. Or they can be in explore mode, where they scoot around on the floor or through their hamster habitat and explore.

The Zhu Zhu Pets have sensors built into them so they sense their habitat. They will ‘ring’ the doorbell while going through their habitat, snoring sounds when they are ’sleeping’, and they really make their hamster wheel squeak! The sensors also make it fun to watch the hamsters cruise around on the floor. If they bump into a wall, they will correct their course and back up.

These little guys are fun and silly – just what kids love! They are sure to be on the HOT TOY list and many stores are already sold out of these fun toy gifts!
