Geico Piggy Commercial
You know, with the invention of TiVo people usually fast forward through the commercials. Why watch a boring ad when you are watching an good television show, right? Well the people at Geico have figured that out so they are making commercials that are absolutely hilarious! They are so fun to watch and talk about with your coworkers the next day. Some have even been emailed around to people. The Geico piggy commercial is no different. If you haven’t seen it yet, you are in for a treat! Here you go:
That is one of the funniest commercials I have ever seen! Every time I see it the darn thing makes me laugh. The really funny thing about it is it has NOTHING to do with insurance! Yet, it is memorable and we associate the Geico name with it. Just like we associate the gecko and caveman with Geico. None of them have anything to do with car insurance, but they make us stop and watch. That is the beauty of a great ad campaign – it makes people stop what they are doing and watch. Sure, Geico could drone on and one about figures and actual savings numbers, but that is boring. What they have done is make a memorable ad that will stick in your head. Then when you are looking for insurance the Geico name will pop in your head because of the funny commercials you have seen.

Yeah, I want that guy to be my therapist! Actually, of all the different Geico commercials out there I really like this format the best. Sure, the gecko is cute, but the cavemen have had their run. They were funny at first, but now they are kind of lame. But this format, where the announcer asks “Can switching to Geico really save you 15% or more on car insurance? Did the little piggy cry wee, wee, wee all the way home?”, is perfect! They can insert so many great things into this format that it will take a long time to get old.
So there you have it, my new favorite commercial – the Geico piggy commercial. It is so funny you will be crying wee, wee, wee all the way home!
